This Rule Note applies to design, construction, commissioning and maintenance of Condition Monitoring Systems installed on board ships intended to operate on approved Planned Maintenance Survey (PMS) scheme and verify requirements of Condition Based Maintenance. The objective of a condition monitoring systems and predictive condition monitoring systems are to provide an equivalent or deeper degree of confidence in the condition of the machinery to traditional survey techniques.
