Please describe your job as a Project Leader for Marine New Construction.

I supervise multi-disciplinary teams in the inspection of various types of marine vessel projects under construction. My team manages all in-hand projects at yard, and supports clients in organizing the development of their projects, assuring a smooth transition from planning, to construction, to sea trials.

What challenges do you face in your day-to-day work?

Vessel construction is a high-pressure phase, and one of my regular challenges is assuring peace of mind for asset owners and shipyards. When challenges arise, project leaders must use their knowledge of new construction projects, experience in the industry and top-notch communications skills to provide equal service to shipyard and owner.     

What opportunities have helped you develop your career?

I’ve worked as the project manager for several Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) projects at Bureau Veritas. Entering the exciting field of alternative fuel allowed me to improve my knowledge of LPG vessel construction, and move further into the developing area of clean propulsion for marine vessels.

My favorite aspect of working for Bureau Veritas is the multi-cultural environment. China is a major shipping hub, and clients from around the world entrust their vessels to our care. My colleagues come from a wide variety of backgrounds, and many have worked for Bureau Veritas in other countries.
