    China Offshore

China Offshore received two AiPs from Bureau Veritas on Marintec’s first day. The first of these was for its floating photovoltaic platform, a promising exploration of floating solar power to be installed off the coast of the Shadong Province. The second was for a new shallow-water FPSO/FSO that will operate in the Weizhou field. We lent our offshore engineering experience to both of these projects, conducting a full design review.

    Fujian GuoHang Shipping and Bestway

We awarded AiP certificates to Fujian GuoHang Shipping and Bestway for two methanol dual fuel bulk carriers of 89,000 and 63,600 DWT. The AiPs are based on a joint development agreement and new design by Bestway. The ships meet the requirements of EEDI Phase III and of our METHANOLFUEL DUALFUEL and METHANOL FUEL PREPARED notations.

China National Offshore Oil Co. (CNOOC) Yeudong

Our awarding of an AIP for CNOOC Yeudong’s floating wind turbine supports their strategic ambition to explore deep water marine renewable energy. Our experts reviewed the basic design drawings for the 15MW turbine to ensure China’s largest and deepest installation proceeds safely.

    MARIC

We recognized MARIC’s new design for a 15,000 TEU ammonia-fueled container ship, which will be eligible for our AMMONIAFUEL or AMMONIAFUEL PREPARED notations. Having received Bureau Veritas’ AiP certificate – which shows that due consideration has been taken towards safety concerns – the potentially zero-carbon emission vessel design can enter the building stage.

    Jiangnan

We awarded a Cyber Security AiP to the Jiangnan Shipyard’s 15,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel containership. This demonstrates that the vessel design meets our classification standards and those of IACS UR-E26.

"This is our very first Cyber Security AiP of its kind in China. The Jiangnan Shipyard has demonstrated excellent capabilities and technical strength in researching marine cyber security. We believe that they will play an active leading role in the development of this field."
    Matthieu de Tugny, President

    Wison Offshore & Marine

Building on a long-standing partnership, we awarded a new AiP to Wison for its Genting FLNG, which has been ordered for operation in Indonesia. It will be one of the largest offshore oil and gas facilities in the world, producing around 1.2 million tons of LNG annually for the international market. Our teams provided design review services and made great efforts to support Wison on structural analysis.

    China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI)

This AiP award ceremony further highlighted the development of marine renewable energy in the region. CMHI received this AiP certificate for its floating wind turbine design suitable for 10 MW of capacity and installation at depths of up to 100 m. The design features a multi-point spreading mooring system that enables a 20-year maintenance-free period after installation. One of a small but growing number of floating offshore wind turbine designs in China, this project is a positive sign of moves to capture greater renewable energy capacity further offshore.

DAY TWO

6 December brought with it more celebrations, as we recognized innovative projects that support low-carbon and renewable fuel production and use – and signed new cooperation agreements.
