Introducing:
Clementine Sarrazin

Beginning her career as an apprentice naval structural engineer at Bureau Veritas in Paris, Clementine Sarrazin has worked on the Hull Design team, helping clients verify hull structure compliance with a range of regulations.

Please describe your job as an Apprentice Naval Structural Engineer.

My job as an engineering apprentice is to review ship plans and verify hull structure compliance with BV Rules. I do this in conjunction with my engineering studies at the Polytech Sorbonne, where I’m a student.

What challenges do you face in your day-to-day work?

As an apprentice, I’m still adapting to the range of projects managed by my team. One day I’ll be updating spreadsheets, and the next I’m accompanying my supervisor to an onboard assessment for one of Bureau Veritas’ biggest clients. There’s a great deal of internal and external communication to keep up with, and I’m always taking in new information.
