SUBMISSION OF YOUR SEEMP PART II FOR REVIEW - REMINDER

IMO has adopted, by resolution MEPC.278(70), new regulation 22A of MARPOL Annex VI related to the data collection system for fuel oil consumption of ships (IMO DCS), which has entered into force on 1 March 2018.

It is reminded that, in accordance with regulation 22.2 of MARPOL Annex VI, on or before 31 December 2018, in the case of a ship of 5,000 gross tonnage and above, the Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) shall include a description of the methodology that will be used to collect the data required by regulation 22A of MARPOL Annex VI and the process that will be used to report the data to the ship's Administration.

In addition and in accordance with regulation 5.4.5 of MARPOL Annex VI, the SEEMP Part II (data collection plan) shall be reviewed by the Administration or duly Recognized Organization (RO),  prior to the beginning of the ship's first reporting period (i.e. 1 January 2019). A confirmation of compliance shall them be issued by the Flag/RO  and retained on board the ship.

Therefore 31 December 2018 is the deadline for having:

•  SEEMP Part II (data collection Plan) reviewed, and

•  Confirmation of Compliance issued on board ships.

Owners are urged to submit their SEEMP Part II for review, as soon as possible, and before the year-end at the latest to avoid any non-compliance situation.

Important Notice: BV shall not guarantee the review of SEEMP Part II plans before the limit date of 31st December 2018 for any submission after the 10th December 2018. We reserve all our rights to that respect.
