Sparky, a new ground-breaking electric tug for Bureau Veritas

Sparky is the world's first full-sized electirc harbor tug delivered in June to the Ports of Auckland to achieve the Port’s intention to be zero emission by 2040. The 25-meter workboat will be able to carry out several towing operations with up to 70 tonnes bollard pull on a single charge. A fast charge will take about two hours. 

Bureau Veritas supported the project from its early stage. The tug was assigned the BATTERY SYSTEM and ELECTRIC HYBRID notations.
