FAQ on new regulation of the sulphur content in ships'fuel oil

From 1 January 2020, the limit for sulphur in fuel oil used on board ships operating outside designated emission control areas will be reduced to 0.50% m/m (mass by mass).

Throughout the last committees and subcommittees, IMO has adopted many texts (circular guidelines, draft amendments).

Aware of the difficulty that shipping companies may have in navigating through these different texts, IMO has set up a web page and documents dedicated to a simple and clear presentation of the new regulatory environment.

You will find below the link to the related page, and two documents (FAQ and flyer).

You will also find a lot of information in the reports that Bureau Veritas has made of the following meetings : MEPC 73, PPR 6, MEPC 74 and MSC 101.
