PARIS, TOKYO, INDIAN OCEAN, BLACK SEA AND MEDITERRANEAN MOUS - 2015 CONCENTRATED INSPECTION CAMPAIGN (CIC)

Reminder from Bahamas of the CIC on crew familiarisation for enclosed space entry

The Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA) has issued the following attached Technical Alert which concerns the 2015 joint Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) of the Paris, Tokyo, Indian Ocean, Black Sea and Mediterranean MoUs.

See news attachment for TechnicalAlertNo15-20.pdf

The BMA urges companies operating Bahamian ships in the Paris, Tokyo, Indian Ocean, Black Sea and Mediterranean MoU regions to ensure that they are fully prepared for the CIC.

The joint CIC will be implemented from 1 September 2015 to 30 November 2015.

Companies are reminded that crew members with enclosed space entry or rescue responsibilities are required to participate in an enclosed space entry and rescue drill to be held on board the ship at least once every two months, as required by SOLAS III/19.3.6.

The Maritime Administrator of the Republic of the Marshall Islands has issued the following attached Marine Safety Advisory (MSA) which also concerns the CIC on crew familiarization for enclosed space entry.

While the press release states that the CIC applies to all ships, the Administrator would clarify that to mean all ships to which SOLAS applies.
