Amendments to the Steel Ship Rules NR467 Part A July 2023

Amendments to BV Rules for the Classification of Steel Ships, NR 467 Part A "Classification and surveys" apply from the 1st of July 2023

The main amendments consist of:

New Service notations, additional service features and an additional class notation.

The new service notations are:

PCTC (pure car and truck carrier) and PCC (pure care carrier): assigned to ships with a high number of decks, specially intended to carry road vehicles as cargo. These notations replace the existing service notation PCT carrier.

The new additional service features are:

LNG Bunkering: assigned to liquefied gas carriers when intended to ensure the transfer of LNG cargo to ships for use as a fuel. This notation replaces the existing service notation LNG Bunkering ship.

Ammonia Bunkering: assigned to liquefied gas carriers when intended to ensure the transfer of ammonia cargo to ships for use as a fuel.

The new additional class notation is:

CPS(MFT): assigned to ships complying with the coating performance standards (NR530) for methanol fuel tanks.

In addition, various IACS unified requirements are transposed and the survey requirements are updated for the new class notations.

For thermal oil heaters, the internal examination is aligned with the periodicity of the class renewal survey.

The use of three-dimensional models in place of two-dimensional plans is provided for documentation to be submitted to Bureau Veritas
