Jan. 29 2026

The 50,000 dwt MR tanker CS FUJAIRAH, classed by Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV), has been successfully delivered by Chengxi Shipyard Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC). The oil/chemical tanker was built for CSSC Shipping and Seacon Shipping Group (Seacon).

As the first vessel in a series of MR tankers constructed by Chengxi for CSSC Shipping and Seacon, CS FUJAIRAH is designed for high efficiency and environmental performance. The vessel offers excellent strong cargo capacity, efficient loading/discharge operations, and good maneuverability, with competitive performance and fuel consumption indicators. In addition to transporting conventional oil products, the tanker is certified to transport Category II chemicals in accordance with the International Bulk Chemical (IBC) Code.

BV holds a leading position in the MR tanker segment, supported by forward-looking Rules and a strong commitment to safety and quality. In recent years, BV has seen sustained growth in MR tanker newbuilding class assignments. To date, BV has classed 20 delivered MR tankers and currently has more than 50 such vessels in its orderbook, reflecting strong market confidence in BV's services.

The delivery of CS FUJAIRAH further contributes to the ongoing cooperation between BV and Seacon.  Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in June 2024, the two parties have maintained close dialogue on green shipping initiatives. BV has been providing classification services for Seacon's diversified newbuilding portfolio, which includes bulk carriers, tankers, and LNG bunkering vessels, and support compliance with international environmental regulations such as the Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII).

BV and Chengxi Shipyard have established a long-term and large-scale partnership. To date, the two parties have collaborated on more than 70 vessels, across multiple vessel types, including MR tankers, bulk carriers, and asphalt carriers. The successful delivery of CS FUJAIRAH represents another achievement in their continued cooperation in the MR tanker segment.
