MARSHALL ISLANDS - VESSEL RESPONSE PLAN (VRP)

Approval of any revision of VRP for ships transitin in US waters

The Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) Maritime Administrator has issued the below Marine Safety Advisory to remind that The United States Coast Guard (USCG) require that, for ships transiting in US waters, any revisions or amendments to an approved response plan must be submitted to the Vessel Response Plan (VRP) Program for approval whenever there is a change in the identification of response related resources, including changes to Salvage and Marine Firefighting (SMFF) core Geographic Specific Appendices (GSAs).

Owners or Operators must revise their VRP to reflect the current date and revision number of their contracted SMFF resource provider’s accepted core GSAs. Note that SMFF core GSA revision information may be provided in the record of changes or in the cover letter/certification statement, provided that the text of the GSA section of the VRP indicates where the SMFF core GSA version and date information may be found.
