Hanwha Ocean and Bureau Veritas Sign Agreement to Collaborate on the Development of Advanced LCO₂ Cargo Handling System

Hanwha Ocean Co., Ltd. (Hanwha Ocean) and Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV) have signed an agreement to collaborate on the development of an innovative LCO₂ Cargo Handling System for next-generation 40K LCO₂ carriers.
The collaboration aims to develop a safe, efficient, and reliable cargo handling solution capable of supporting the growing demand for maritime transportation of carbon dioxide as part of global carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) initiatives. Under the agreement, Hanwha Ocean and BV will work closely together to evaluate the design, and verify compliance with applicable rules, regulations and industry standards.
This agreement represents another significant milestone in the long-standing partnership between Hanwha Ocean and BV, reinforcing their shared commitment to advancing innovative maritime technologies that support decarbonization and contribute to global greenhouse gas reduction targets.
By combining Hanwha Ocean's extensive expertise in shipbuilding and offshore engineering with BV's global leadership in classification and certification services, the two organizations aim to accelerate the development of next-generation LCO₂ transportation solutions and support the realization of global net-zero ambitions.
