Sep. 12 2025

Gas and Heat S.p.A., a global leader in cryogenic gas infrastructures, has announced that it has received an Approval in Principle (AiP) from Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore, one of the world’s leading classification societies, for its project dedicated to liquefied hydrogen (LH2).

The AiP specifically covers:

  • the design of a next-generation containment and handling system for the transportation of liquefied hydrogen by ship;

  • the development of an onshore LH2 storage facility, intended to support future import and export terminals.

“This milestone confirms the strength and reliability of our technological solutions for liquefied hydrogen,” said Mauro Evangelisti, Chairman of Gas and Heat. “The certification by Bureau Veritas represents a key recognition to accelerate the development of safe and high-performance infrastructures supporting the energy transition.”
