The tenth session of IMO Sub-committee on the Carriage of Cargoes and Containers (CCC 10) was held in person from 16th to 20th of September 2024, with hybrid facilities allowing remote participation.
CCC 10 approved the following:
- Interim Guidelines for ships using ammonia as a fuel, as “high-level goal-based standard”, for approval at MSC 109 in December 2024
- A consolidated and revised version of the International Code for the Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Liquefied Gases in Bulk (IGC Code), for adoption at MSC 110 in June 2025 and expected entry into force on 1 January 2028
- Amendments 08-25 to the IMSBC Code, for adoption by MSC 110 in 2025
- Revised Recommendations for entering enclosed spaces aboard ships, for adoption at MSC 110 in June 2025 and at the Assembly in December 2025
CCC 10 progressed on the following matters:
- Development of draft interim guidelines for the safety of ships using hydrogen as fuel, expected for finalization at CCC 11
- Development of IMDG Code provisions concerning the transport of vehicles
- Review of the Revised guidelines for the preparation of the Cargo Securing Manual (MSC.1/Circ.1353/Rev.2) to include a harmonized performance standard for lashing software to permit lashing software as a supplement to the Cargo Securing Manual
