BV Supports Successful Delivery of 175,000 cbm LNG Carrier at Yangzijiang Xinfu
Oct. 8 2026
YANGZE LNG 01, a 175,000‑cbm Mark III Flex membrane‑type LNG carrier built by Yangzijiang Xinfu Shipbuilding under Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group, has been officially delivered. Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV) provided classification services and technical support throughout the project.
The delivery marks a significant milestone for Yangzijiang Xinfu as the first 175,000 cbm membrane-type LNG carrier built by a Chinese private shipbuilder. It also represents an important project in the long-standing cooperation between BV and Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group in advancing sustainable shipbuilding.
The vessel has an overall length of 297 meters, a breadth of 46 meters and a depth of 26.5 meters. It adopts the GTT Mark III Flex membrane containment system, with a theoretical daily boil‑off rate of only 0.085%. Its main propulsion system consists of two dual‑fuel MAN B&W 5G70ME‑C10.5‑GA‑EGR engines equipped with cryogenic units, complying with the IMO emission standards under both fuel‑oil and gas‑fuel modes.
The vessel has been awarded key BV class notations including LNGfuel dualfuel, AVM‑DPS (propulsion redundancy), SYS‑NEQ‑1 (one‑man bridge), CLEAN SHIP and GREEN PASSPORT. These notations reflect BV’s technical expertise in LNG carriers and provide comprehensive compliance assurance for the vessel’s worldwide operation.
With more than 60 years of experience in gas carrier classification, BV is a leading classification society in the LNG sector, providing expertise across design review, construction and in-service surveys. Working across the LNG value chain, BV delivers classification and consultancy services for LNG carriers, FLNGs, FSRUs, LNG bunkering vessels and other gas carriers, including LPG, VLEC and LCO₂ vessels. Supported by extensive operational experience and a significant share of global LNG carrier newbuilding orders, BV brings proven technical expertise to landmark projects such as YANGZE LNG 01.
Yangzijiang Xinfu Shipbuilding commented: “YANGZE LNG 01 is the first 175,000 cbm LNG carrier ever built by a Chinese private shipbuilder. Its successful delivery marks a historic breakthrough for Yangzijiang Xinfu in high-end clean energy ship construction. We highly appreciate the professional technical support delivered by the BV team throughout the entire building process, particularly in relation to core technologies including the Mark III Flex membrane containment system and dual-fuel propulsion system. We look forward to further strengthening our cooperation with BV on LNG carriers, and more green and intelligent vessel projects, jointly enhancing the competitiveness of Chinese private shipbuilding in the global LNG carrier market.”
