Jul. 3 2026
Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV) has recently classed M/T MODI, a 73,500 DWT Crude/Product Oil Tanker built by New Times Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (NTS) for Dynacom.
An exclusive New Times Shipyard design – NTS holds full the intellectual property, and delivered in June, M/T MODI combines high cargo capacity with operational flexibility, enabling the efficient transportation of crude oil and oil products to meet the evolving demand of the global shipping market for greater operational efficiency and environmental performance.
The vessel measures 228.00 meters in overall length, with a molded breadth of 32.20 meters, a molded depth of 20.80 meters and a design draft of 12.20 meters. Designed for worldwide trading, the vessel complies with the requirements of both the original and expanded Panama Canal, while addressing current and future standards for environmental protection, safety, and operational performance.
The vessel has been awarded BV's CLEANSHIP and GREEN PASSPORT EU class notations, reflecting its commitment to environmental stewardship throughout its lifecycle, from operation to recycling. It is also BIOFUEL-READY, enabling the future use of sustainable biofuels to help reduce carbon emissions.
To enhance digital resilience and operational safety, M/T MODI complies with BV's CYBER RESILIENT requirements and has been awarded the SYS-NEQ-1 (One Man Bridge Control) notation, together with AUT-PORT (Auto-docking) functionality, supporting a high level of bridge automation and improved operational efficiency. The vessel also incorporates an LNGFUEL-PREPARED design, facilitating a future conversion to LNG propulsion.
BV and NTS have built a strong and longstanding partnership, with more than 40 newbuildings successfully delivered under BV classification for shipowners worldwide. Their collaboration spans a broad range of vessel types, including large bulk carriers, crude and product tankers, and ultra-large container ships.
BV also maintains a longstanding relationship with Dynacom, supporting the company's extensive global newbuilding program across multiple vessel segments, including Kamsarmax bulk carriers, Suezmax tankers, and LR1 and LR2 product tankers.
