Bureau Veritas Awards Cybersecurity Approval to Marlink’s IoT Data Collection Solution
Jan. 29 2025
Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV), has granted Type Approval Certificate to Marlink for its Internet of Things (IoT) data collection solution. The solution enables shipowners and operators to collect, analyze, and utilize data from any equipment on newbuildings and existing vessels remotely. By leveraging this data, users can enhance vessel efficiency, monitor fuel consumption, and reduce emissions in alignment with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals.
The type approval certificate confirms that the solution is compliant with the latest cyber security regulations in maritime, IACS UR E27, which relates to the certification of equipment and systems onboard.
Marlink’s IoT solution supports operational efficiency by providing real-time visibility, performance management, and sustainability insights. Its vendor-agnostic design allows data collection from equipment made by any manufacturer, and it can scale across fleets to consolidate information from diverse systems into a single point. Supported by Marlink’s global installation and maintenance network, the solution is optimized for multi-satellite communication environments.
Tore Morten Olsen, President, Maritime at Marlink, said: “The digitalization of the maritime industry continues to be a process of gathering data so that shipowners can derive real value and use it to support their decarbonization strategies. Marlink is supporting the process of data collection and ensuring that our solutions are certified to the latest cyber security standards.”
