Guidance and Information relating to MARPOL Annex VI - Global Fuel Oil Sulphur Limit
The Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA) has issued the following attached Information Bulletin No. 183 which concerns MARPOL Annex VI - Global Fuel Oil Sulphur Limit
This Bulletin provides guidance and information to assist Bahamian shipowners and Companies operating Bahamian ships in preparation for a coordinated and orderly transition to the 0.50% sulphur content limit in marine fuel oil starting on 01 January 2020, as required under Annex VI of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, as amended (MARPOL Annex VI).
The Bulletin also provides guidance and information related to the entry into force of the MARPOL Annex VI prohibition on the carriage for use of non-compliant fuel oil on ships without an approved alternative means of compliance on 01 March 2020.
