Nancy has worked for Bureau Veritas for 24 years, and as manager of the Marketing & Sales Department for Newbuilding, she has a great responsibility in contributing to the development of Bureau Veritas’ Newbuild business.

Please describe your job as Marketing & Sales Department Manager?

As manager for the Newbuilding Marketing & Sales department, my job is to identify new business opportunities, and then working with potential clients to build their trust. In the Newbuilding department, my focus is to develop that trust by demonstrating our ability to support them in building new exciting and challenging projects. 

What challenges do you face in your day-to-day work?

Classification is an increasingly competitive market and Bureau Veritas, one of the world’s top ten class societies, regularly competes with at least three other international Testing, Inspection, and Classification (TIC) societies. Today more than ever I feel my job is to create strong partnerships with potential clients in order to stay ahead of the competition.

What opportunities have helped you develop your career?

I started my career at Bureau Veritas in the Chinese Plan Approval Office, taking care of administrative work and supporting Newbuilding business development activities. Within one year I was able to move to the Marketing & Sales department for Newbuilding Business Development, and I have continued moving up in that department throughout the years.

Bureau Veritas offers great opportunities for moving around different departments, learning new skill sets and applying them to new roles. The ability and willingness to take on new responsibilities is one of my key strengths in life, and I feel grateful that Bureau Veritas has allowed me to grow the way I did.

What do you enjoy most about working for Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore?

The whole company feels like one big family where colleagues work in close cooperation with each other. This solidarity, I think, is the basis for the development of friendly relationships between colleagues. I also particularly like the fact that, as manager of the Marketing & Sales department, my work focuses on gaining the trust of customers to eventually win projects for the company.
