Eva Peño
Eva Peño has worked for Bureau Veritas in Paris for over 15 years, mastering a variety of technical and project management roles. She is now a global market leader in Bureau Veritas’ marine marketing and sales department.
Please describe your job as a Global Market Leader.
As a member of the commercial department, I lead international business development activities for Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore. I implement key account strategies, and steer the development of new services and standards for clients in the tugs and offshore support vessel (OSV) sectors.
What challenges do you face in your day-to-day work?
One of my biggest challenges is staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and innovations. The shipping industry is undergoing an exciting digital transformation, and classification societies must understand the impact of these innovations on ship construction and operations. I work to ensure the smooth collaboration of all stakeholders, in order to provide cutting-edge solutions to our clients.

What opportunities have helped you develop your career?
Having worked in various technical and project management positions before moving to the commercial side of Bureau Veritas, I had many opportunities to create solutions for clients. A particularly memorable project was helping develop the Veristar Dangerous Goods and Bulk tool, which allowed me to improve my technical skills and work with a diverse team of talented individuals.

Bureau Veritas’ global presence is another key benefit of my job. I love traveling to new places, attending conferences, and developing relationships with clients worldwide. My team includes men and women from seven different nationalities, so I can enjoy the multi-cultural aspects of my job on a daily basis.
