Bureau Veritas experts presenting on LNG carrier technology, small-scale LNG carriers/bunkering and LNG regasification for floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs)

Technology report available at Gastech addresses the technical and regulatory requirements of floating gas terminals – FSRUs and FSUs

You can meet experts from Bureau Veritas at Gastech on stand M-105 in Hall 3

Paris-La Défense, France, September 13th, 2018: Bureau Veritas experts are presenting on three key issues for marine and offshore gas supply chains at Gastech 2018 as well as releasing a report on the technical and regulatory options for FSRUs and FSUs.

On Monday afternoon, Bureau Veritas and Korean shipyard group Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd (DSME), will present their joint project "Implementation of New Technologies for LNG Carriers”. The presentation will address the challenges during the design, construction, and certification of novel technologies increasing overall LNG carrier efficiency.

On Tuesday afternoon, Carlos Guerrero, Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore Global Market Leader for Tankers & Gas Carriers, will present the assessment of innovative small-scale LNG carrier concepts describing this innovative segment, the technologies and solutions implemented or proposed in addition to the specificities of the LNG bunkering ships and some novel concept designs in the frame of small-scale LNG transportation currently being developed.

And on Wednesday afternoon Philippe Cambos, Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore Director and Senior Technical Advisor, will co-present “Hi-ReGAS System Assessment” together with HHI. The presentation will address the FSRUs classification by Bureau Veritas, including the regasification system with a description of some of the competitive advantages of the Hi-ReGAS system.

Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRUs) or Floating Storage Units (FSUs) are a relatively new concept: the first entered service in 2005. Determining the risk management approaches required for these units, with implications for operational flexibility and costs, is vital for all stakeholders.

Bureau Veritas has developed the framework to help determine the best options and choices to manage risk, including addressing both newbuildings and conversions. A new Technology Report will be available at Gastech describing technical and regulatory options for FSRUs and FSUs, including industry rules, the first developed specifically for floating gas terminals and guidance for conversions.
